Banquets and Bonfires- Why your day should be your way.
Above is a video of our recent shoot styled and coordinated by us, shot by Lola Rose Photography and featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings Blog.
“Autumn is such a romantic and beautiful time of year, it was the perfect season for this shoot, its bounty of tones and textures was our theme. We wanted to give a viewer all of the Autumn feels. What is more autumnal than bonfires, huge mugs of hot chocolate, cozy socks, grazing on all the yummiest foods, candle light and getting snug with a beloved.
I wanted this shoot to tell a story about our couple. We styled them in a mix of vintage, high street and smaller business products. I love the thought that a brides favourite high street shoes can be worn on her wedding day with a charity shop jacket that looks just right, these touches are the personality and individuality of a couple’s day.
Our story follows them from the building excitement getting ready to whizzing off in their vintage car to sneak some precious time together as newly weds.
We had a ball on shoot day and all of our suppliers went above and beyond bringing all we had imagined to life.
I stumbled across our amazing photographer Lola Rose through Instagram, her Insta tag is “Dream chasing, marshmallow toasting, campfire loving”- perfect, she was the gal!
Alswick was a great location for us, the original timber barn was a fantastic backdrop for our banquet and we made the most of its surrounding fields and beautiful wooded avenues.
Flowers by Meadowfolk showcased all that is autumn and cheeses and fruits from the The Cheeseplate looked so decadent on our banquet table and stationary by Wonderland Invites set the scene. It could not have run more smoothly, a lovely day.” R&D about the shoot.
Personality time people:
Modern trends are so freeing for a couple to hold a wedding their way, to really stretch the imagination and show guests and loved ones who a couple are. We love the phrase "Unwedding" championed by @the_un_wedding "a marriage ceremony and an awesome celebration that cares less about following outdated traditions and more about reflecting who the couple really are." This doesn't mean the inner child has to banish all thoughts of a white wedding but more that sequin socks and personalised decor are the order of the day, accompanied by traditional formats or binning them off completely!
Couples are favouring DIY venues or just an area of land which they can fill with all of their favourite things and people.
There is also a trend for fun dining experiences, not so much the expensive sit down meal, but less scale more personality again. Lets face it who wants to dance the night away after 3 courses anyway! How about a selection of wines and beers with a grazing station to compliment each brew. Or big cauldrons of Goulash in a plam leaf bowl with Kilners of cocktails! The world of matrimony is opening up and soon even the mother in laws expectations will be wide ranging.
Lets revolutionise our weddings and let our personalities shine!!
